Default Rod Holder simple fix

I just purchased a 89' 20' seacraft and one of the first things I noticed is that the bottom bracket on both rod holders was broken. I had to make a trip to Lowes for some zip ties and while in the electrical dept. I noticed these cool little Bungee's made for strapping wires back. After straightening up the wood and cutting a bungee slot with a coping saw they fit perfectly. Best part is I got a pack of 10 of them for $7.

That is a good idea and something I need to do as well. The bunge cords on my rod holders were pretty worn out so I cut them out. Could you not have run the new bungees through the hole that the original bungees were routed? Why the need for the black plastic piece. I would have thought that you could have cut the bungee, run it through the hole and then used some type of crimp to connect it back together.

That would have been a great option if the bottom of the bracket where the bungee fastens in the wood slot wasn't broken off. This was easier than cutting new rod holders out of wood.
