Default Starboard for panels?

I'm looking to do some upgrades to my center console and install a new rocker panel. The console currently has a black plexi glass type material making up a couple panels. I'd like to replace it with a white starboard type material but the starboard is crazy expensive. Any suggestions on an alternate material of comparable quality?

Starboard is difficult because it's hard to seal. Nothing sticks to it.
You can purchase PVC board from any local sign shop. It can be cut, sanded & painted to your liking. It comes in a variety of thicknesses.

I made my switch panel & fush mount electronics with PVC board

Thats a great idea. I talked to a guy that builds seat cushions and he said he uses a plastic backing. I was thinking of visiting him to see what he uses but the PVC may be a better option. Did you use a fiberglass product or caulking to smooth the inside edges? What type paint did you use? It looks great.

Fasco Fas-Stone 2 part epoxy paste for the OUTSIDE edges to smooth. Sandpaper to smooth & round off.
