Working on 1976 23 cc that has previously been modified poorly. Power is 250 hp Suzuki 4 stroke.
Thinking about repositioning fuel tank forward about 20 inches. Move some weight forward to offset the weight of the big four stroke. Has anyone done this ? Looking for some opinions as we'll. Thanks, G |

Move as far forward as you can. There is room to make it a 150 gallon if you can. Great boat so enjoy it.

Is the motor on a bracket? Full transom? I agree with moving the tank forward or increasing it size but considering the fuel efficiency of the outboard I would only go bigger if it was really necessary.

I'm currently replacing the decks, so the new tank will go forward. The owner who messed with this years ago ( originally came from Florida) removed the front storage well and completely changed the configuration of the raised bow deck,it has 4 hatches now. I've had a live well in the floor between the console and the raised deck.it worked out well there and will probably be put there again.
As always thank you for your advice and replies. I will take the time soon to figure out how to post pictures. Thanks,G. |

No bracket, transom and motor we'll redone years ago. Live well gone splash well.
No need for bigger tank, this motor is awesome on gas. G. |

The easiest thing would be to move batteries into the console if they are in the back now. Do you have GPH/MPG speed/RPM numbers for that sweet motor? People put twins on these all the time so don't get too hung up on single four stroke motor weight IMO. I think 20" might be a lot. I put a 70 gallon moved forward about a foot in my 20' boat and when it's full the bow is digging at idle or trolling speed.

When u say four hatches up front...sounds to me this was a cuddy boat change to CC. Any pics. I don't c the need for anything bigger than like 100gals. Like u said motors are more efficient now days

I put a wheelhouse on my sceptre and moved the tank up about 15 inches and i think this is the best think for these hulls cause they take the water a hell of alot better with that extra weight up front. Get some of that weight more forward and in rough weather you can cruise at a slower speed with the bow down and you wont have to bury your tabs.

I think you are right, it may have been a cuddy. The gunnel top looks like it was off a center console it has the recess on the inside for the grab rail.
