Default " holy grail " boat finds

As a past time, I occasionally check assorted 23' Sceptre ad's while I currently own a very clean V21 boat.....

So, recently found a possible " holy grail " for sale...........that was SOLD by the time I found it 20 days later.

It was a 1979 23' Sceptre, from original florida owner, outboard, never bottom painted, kept on lift, with pictures that showed a truly beautiful hull and interior. Shined like new. Reported some professional updates done that also looked fantastic. Asking price was also realistic, not ridiculous.

So...... as some guys enjoy searching for " barn find muscle cars and such " these SeaCrafts can be similar.

Leaving the question..........wonder how many near original / still in pristine condition remain ?

All speculation . . . but from what I've seen in 10+ years it's not getting any easier to find clean 40 year old boats.

out of 346 outboard 23 Sceptres. My best guess is 5% of these boats are meticulously maintained or hiding in a barn.

When you find a nice boat . . . You need to be ready with cash in hand. When you hum and haw they are guaranteed to disappear.

Interesting data there Big S.....

You be preaching to the choir about jumping when you see em'.......
My last boat I grabbed while next guy interested was on the phone with the seller.
One before that, I drove down from NJ to N Carolina to bring home a mint Mako CC.

Anyway, the holy grail listing I found ( 20 days late ) was in Tampa FLA, no longer listed.
There's another one listed in Tampa, but not the same boat.

As of today, I'm not really a buyer/ or seller of my boat .....unless I get very lucky and just have to get boat # 5.

Correction - sold but still listed.

Look under Tampa, Fla, boat listing is " clean fishing machine" and you'll see what I saw !

Wasn't it ? !!! Likely priced based on book value of boat, and motor. I believe no trailer.
From the pics, such a nice looking classic seacraft.......and original owner since 79 ? WOW.
That's why I refer to that as " holy grail " As I said, sold by the time I found it.

Says who...........

Holy music should have been playing with that ad........ here it is............an impossibly rare 1979 Seacraft Sceptre that's actually the buy of a life time.

Oh please, I kneel before this great boat. Can it be real ?
Then it floats off the storage rack..........into the sky, and through the clouds.

WOW, and we were here to see it !!!
Amen. Lord please have mercy.

That is some interesting data. I never knew there were so few of these boats built.

Not for another 20 years anyway.....when the new owner becomes a seller.
