Seacrest boats?? 20' Seafari on craigs $600
Was there ever a boat that was a duplicate of the 20'Seafari made by a company called Seacrest??
There is one on Craigslist that looks exactly like a 20' Seafari for 600.00 bucks. It's probably ten minutes from my house.I have no interest in it,but if its a Seacraft,I may be interested for the heck of it. The seller clearly listed it as a "Seacrest 20 foot'" could he have mistakenly misspelled it? I can't see a clear view of the hull bottom, but in every other way it looks identical to a 20' Seafari. It's on western ma. craigslist. ** if this post is not ok feel free to delete it**

John,
Back in the 70's, the Seafari was highly thought of and had the highest resale value of anything in it's class, so there was an outfit which DID make a knock-off of it! I've forgotten the name of the company, but it was NOT Seacrest! May have been something like Continental, but Fr. Frank would probably remember it. I believe the shape of the cabin windows was slightly different and I don't think it had an opening windshield, and of course the bottom was just a conventional modified V, so there was nothing special about it and it was nowhere near SeaCraft quality. But from 100 yds away, it was a dead ringer for a Seafari! If IS a SeaCraft, it's one of only 741 made of that model, so it's rarer than the 23 Sceptre/Tsunami and worth saving IMHO! Denny

Seacrest Boats
Pretty sure Bushwacker is correct. I remember Continental making boats that from a distance looked like the SeaCraft 20'. Not sure if it was the Seafari model they tried to copy, but probably as I still have my Seafari ordered in 1976 and what I would have been more likely to notice.

Continental sounds right. You look at one and it looks like a Seafari, but not quite, windows aren't right and the height of the gunnel and cabin are a little different. Your eyeballs say something isn't right, but your not sure what it is.
i've seen at least one more where it looked like they tried to copy the idea, but not as close as Continental. |

I checked out the Craigs List ad and saw a Yellow one that is listed as a SeaCraft. Maybe the owner/poster corrected the ad...
