My original windshield was pitted severely so I removed it and had it power coated. Before I took it off the boat, there were several pieces of rubber moulding in the windshield although I believe much of the original pieces were missing. What is this for and what purpose does it serve? What few pieces I do have are hard and brittle. If I wanted to replace the pieces, where can I find an after-market product that will work?
The pieces I am referring to are in the orange box in the pic below. ![]() WOW!! Big picture?!?!? |

Much better. Thanks Goat.
After posting my question I saw were Kmoose provided the link below and I am pretty sure this is what I was looking for. http://pompanettellc.com/current-cat...-gasket-seals/ Anybody have a guess as to how much is required to do an entire Sceptre windshield? At $5/foot, that stuff ain't cheap! I am still curious as to the purpose of these? It is to prevent metal to metal contact in the windshield frame or it is just to keep water out? |

As far as the gasket amount..... way more than you think. When you get it all ready to go just give me a call and I will give you some lessons learned for installing. The glass has to be bedded as well. You will 1/8 x 1/2” foam glazing tape to do it and that is a whole nother ordeal. It took Mel and myself 40 plus hours to do it right.

Interesting thread. Not real sure what that was for until I saw Kmoose’s response. Mine doesn’t have that on the sceptre. My windshield was removed in 2005 and redone with sunpane? (Spelling May be wrong there) but it was powder coated and reglazed. I added the receipts up in the file I had from Previous owner in st Pete. 4000.00 bucks!! With that said; that’s exactly why it took kmoose to do it right inside 40 hours. Sounds like a headache. If one of my kids breaks my window they may have to swim to shore.
