Hey Guys,
Looking for some feedback just blew my Mercury verado that I had the computer flashed at Simon Motorsports. Have 23 tsunami with bracket custom windshield and full canvas. When my verado was a 225 my boat ran 46 to 48 pretty consistently. When I had Simon Motorsports reflash the computer the boat would run 55 to 57 all day long with killer Cruise numbers. Now I am considering the new Mercury 3.4 liter 4 stroke 225 coming in and only 475 pounds I got to think this boat will run close to 50 with that engine package on the back looking for some feedback and or thoughts or anyone else that is considering this repower what do you guys think. $14,600 in Cold Fusion white with a 5-year Platinum warranty. Can get a brand new 225 verado for $16,500 out the door and have Simon Motorsports reflash the PCM and turn it into a 345hp. What is 3 + 2 it is not Platinum. I'm really leaning towards the 225 four stroke versus the verado not to mention I could actually get service work done in Boise vs driving 500 miles for verado work. Thanks in advance guys I appreciate it. Robert |

Hummmm....I did not know these new Mercs were below 500# dry. That's nice. Obviously they have went to plasma cylinder walls to eliminate the weight of steel sleeves. I wonder if they might go up to a bigger block and 250 - 300 hp on these V-6's??

I am sure in Phase 2 or phase 3 next year they're probably going to release and 250 275-300 off that 3.4 litre block. I'm really leaning towards the 3.4 because with the 200-pound weight savings vs the 700 lb Verado the 3.4 Reaches max Torque at 3000 Rpms. I got to be thinking probably not giving up very much at all and your fuel economy should be fantastic around 4000 RPMs. |

I'm with ya!! Not sure how your rigging will match up, however if it does that's a nice savings. Now about that fuel savings........

The v6 3.4L is a nice simple design. The new V8's are going to be announced sometime in Mid May.

Thanks Big!!! I notice the cylinder wall coating looks to be substantial. I don't know how they apply the material, plasma coating?, however I thought I read the Yamaha coating is only a few thousands of an inch fused into the aluminum block. Interesting.

I think the sleeves are just thin steel sleeves. It looks that way in the picture and I can't find any information online saying they are made from any special material. I would think the marketing folks would be shouting it from the roof tops if the cylinder walls were anything but steel. The middle cylinder wall on the cut out looks like it might be forming a tiny bit of surface rust too.

Got a screaming deal on a new fusion white 300 Verado. Too good to pass up. New engine with 5 year Platinum warranty. Going on the sled next week.
I'm pretty stoked as this is the first time I've been ready willing and able to cut loose of that kind of money for a motor. |

Hummmm......might want to stay away from the Simon flashed ECUs. I'm thinking that might mess up your Platinum Warranty.
