Default Florida Keys Fishiing - Visiting from California

Hi All,

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and my fiance and I are heading from Miami Beach to Key West with a wedding in Islamorada in the middle of the trip from November 1st through the 6th. I was looking at chartering a boat for Friday the 2nd in or near Islamorada. Any suggestions on what to go for or who to go with? I've never been to Florida.
Being a free diver on our cold coastal waters I would love to cruise some of your warm waters on another day too. If you have any suggestions let me know!

Thanks,
Keith

Default Keys Guide

Keith, try Capt. Jeff Malone at Hawks Kay Resort on Duck Key. He is on Tarpon Time. 877-423-6403. Excellent guide both inshore and off. If he can’t set you up with a dive trip try one of the boats out of Little Torch or Big Pine Key for a trip to Looe Key. Jeff used to dive the Middle Grounds with me years ago.

Hey Keith, what you looking for, offshore or back country? There are boat rentals you can do to get you to close in areas to dive/snorkel plus there are many snorkel boats available....be careful of the warm water!!! . If you want to go offshore or reef fishing try Two Conchs Charters in Marathon, they kill them all the time.

Thanks for the replies! I'm not sure what I'm looking to fish for. Tarpon would be awesome but I hear it's probably too late for them. I don't think a big offshore trip is going to be what she is up for. Something simple is good with us.
Diving and snorkeling would be good from a beach or a boat rental would be great.
I'll reach out to Two Conches and Jeff. Thanks guys.

Keith

Follow Two Conchs on Instagram, that will give you an idea how good they do. They are usually booked solid so you might want to check availability. Have fun!

Default Pennekamp

It has been more than 20 years since the last time we went to John Pennekamp underwater park with the kids in our Seafari. It is off of Key Largo before you reach Islamorada. You can get snorkeling or scuba trips. Google it to see if it interests you.
