Originally an IO?

Is there a way using the manufacturer number or Hull ID to tell whether my Seacraft started as an outboard or has always been an I/0? Thanks

mine was one of five built if it is i/o keep it that way they are rare.

I can't imagine someone would take the time and effort to convert an outboard transom boat to an I/O. Usually it's the other way, with the addition of a bracket. One of 5 maybe a jack shafted I/O from the factory, because as mentioned above a I/O version of a 23 Sceptre was very common.

I totally agree. Cool information. The more I get to looking to mine, I really believe mine was an outboard converted to an IO. I see it distinct line where some glass work was done. It totally resembles the cut out of an outboard motor well. Whoever did it, if this is true, did excellent work, it’s hard to even tell. Also my engine beds under the yanmar do not look anywhere near what the factory specifications were. I may never know.
