Default 1987 CSY 18' SF max specs

I own a 1987 18', which according the state of Florida was first titled in September of 1986. That would make it one of the hulls actually built by CSY but then sold to Tracker Marine, and subsequently sold as a Tracker SeaCraft.

I know my hull, with the fuel tank removed and no motor on it weighs right at 1690 lbs, including trolling motor but w/o batteries. This is more than the 1400 lbs listed in the specs on this site. And yes, my foam is dry, as is my transom. (no extra water weight)

The overall length from the rub rail to the 27" tall transom cutout is 18' 3" as measured with a laser, not the published 18' 0". The beam is 7' 6 1/2" and not the published 7' 5". The beam measurement is important in the calculations below.

If we use the USCG specs for determining maximum horsepower, the max horsepower rating for my hull SHOULD be 200 hp. Here's why:
The LOA for the hull to the nearest foot is 18'. Beam to the nearest foot is 8'. This gives a factor of 144. (144x2)-90= max hp of 198, rounded up the nearest 5 hp, giving a 200 hp max rating.

And accordingly, the placard on my boat shows that it's an 18' SF, Max 5 persons, Max 1325 lbs persons, motor and gear, and Max hp is 200.

Of course, I put a 90 hp Etec on it. :>)

Has anyone else seen this max hp rating of 200 hp on any other 18'?

I had an 86, bought new. Seems to me it was about 1800lbs. Shoot, my 75 - 17 ft. Mako weighed a little over 1200lbs. I read my old owners manual last night, thinking there might be something in it. No, they tell you how to approach waves, filing a float plan, using trim tabs etc. if the max loading weight is 1325, persons motor and gear, those five people gotta be pretty small.

First of all, I erred. The max capacity persons, motor and gear is 1375 lbs., not 1325.

The USCG assumed per-person weight from 1962 - 2012 was 160 lb per person. Prior to 1962, the assumed per-person weight was only 140 lbs. Today, the assumed per-person weight is 185 lbs.

Adding in the weight of my motor at 315 lbs, that leaves only 1060 lbs for persons and gear. (According to one source, the weight of full fuel and a single starting battery are included in the rated "wet" hull weight).

But I've got four Group 24 batteries on board at 43 lbs. each, (an extra 129 lbs ).
Add a full cooler (65 lbs),
Fishing tackle (30 lbs),
Two Spade S40 anchors with 20' of chain and 300' of rode each (84 lbs),
a Minn-Kota Fortrex 80 lb 62" trolling motor (44 lbs),
a Lehr 5 hp "kicker" motor (49 lbs),
with 8 cans of propane (8 lbs), for a total gear weight of 409 lbs.

That only leaves enough capacity for 4 "average" adults, or only 3 people my size.
