I keep the boat in the garage all the time while on the trailer. I am going to lift the bow with a hoist once the stern is on stands. I have just been unsure where to place the stands.

Seems to me that only cutting the bottom two supports would achieve your desires. The other two supports are the ones I adjust to tighten the canvas.
