My guess is you may need more tab to keep the bow down in seas that are resulting in spray push that is blowing up and over with a cross wind. If that is the case, spray rails will not do you a bit of good. Also remember that adding horizontal surface area at the chine can alter the hydrodynamics of the hull possibly amplifying impact. They could also cause exaggerated bow push in a quartering sea as well.
