Sorry no pics yet or #s The bracket isn't even on yet. I figure by late Nov I'll be ready.

Regarding the two year mark. There are quite a few etecs out there with two years plus and still no problems. I fished a Wellcraft with twin 250's this year in the FLW tour and we ran them hard. Running mostly 5000 rpms or above going from spot to spot. We put close to 400 hrs on them and no problems. So i'm convinced.

I haven't seen a lot of E-tecs, but a friend of mine has a 225 on a 2390 Hydrasport. In general the motor has been o.k. He has had it back to the dealer 3 times. They changed the lift pump( part of the fuel delivery system), that solved one issue. He was only getting 50-60 hrs. out of a set of spark plugs. The dealer tried a couple things with no improvement. Their last solution was changing to a different temp. thermostat, now he gets 100-120 hrs. out of his spark plugs. He's a giude so he wracks up a lot of hours, the motor was new this spring and I guesstimate he has 500+ hrs.on it. Better than a Ficht but still a few bugs to iron out.

I know it's heavy (475 lbs.) for my '86 20 footer, 20'6", but I love the 4-stroke Yamaha 150 so far. Nutty-good fuel economy, lot's more power than my old '86 Black Max, super clean and quiet, and I love not having to think about 2-cycle oil. There are lot's of great repowering options out there.

Until I get the Web Cam shooting the boat floating in the canal, CSC is a hands down winner for work distractions !

Procrastinate now, don't put it off.

This a very interesting discussion on engines, including the ETEC. Check out the boats and motors on the 1st link. I think with the figures I am seeing, the 250 hp ETEC is more efficent than the 225 on a 3500# hull. Like I have said in the past, I will run my 1989 200 Merc til it drops, then I will consider the 250 ETEC for a repower option. Hopefully I don't have to do that very soon. With the price of gas that would be a 30% saving on gas from I am now.

Im seriously considering putting a 150 e-tec on my 18 seacraft. Love the boat but hate the mileage I get now.
