Default changing transom

I was wondering if it would be benificial to raise the transom to 25" from the original 20". I would like to put a new motor on my 1976 18sf. I want to go off shore fishing but don't feel comfortable with the way the transom is so close to the water.

It is a real good idea to raise the transom!!
This photo was taken at the Anclote CSC gathering this past April. Although not a close up, the yellow 20SF and the orange 20SF both were raised to 25 inch.
Just Do-it!!
