I have a `96 150 OP on my 20 and its a good balance at 365 #s. The 60 deg is supposed to have much better harmonics, but it does love the parish wine. George forgot to put back my thermostats last year on the 100 hr service. It pissed the same as when I bought it so I guess they were out for a while...... Wouldn`t that keep it in fast start mode, which would explain why it idled poorly? What`s the potential damage. Gotta feeling I`m not gonna like the answers.
Thx Gfs

If its the same as the 99, yes on all accounts. Mine warms up to 170 degrees and runs much better throughout the entire rpm range with thermostats. Fuel consumption is also less. As for damage when not being run hot enough,I'm not sure. I know they can cold seize. Maybe someone else can chime in on potential problems.

I just got it back 2 weeks late and it still pissed poorly.
He asked me if I took out the t stats and I told him he was the last person to touch it.He`s a good wrench and has an A&P too, but he has a couple of kids working for him.... Ah, the ability of human nature to disappoint. Anyone have a preference for manuals as it looks like I`ll have to do it the right way. MY WAY! I`m not good w/ electronics or computers but I can spin some wrenches. I did a timing belt on a `80 Porsche 924 when I was 19. Yes it`s an interference motor, and I knew that going in. I need a large adult beverage.

Thx ,
GFS
