All I can offer is the amphibians are less expensive than the thru hulls and flush mounts.

There's a guy on the hulltruth making the surface mount type. Dont know much about them except that he makes them to order and the price is good. His screen name is scarabchris.

Couldn't you just epoxy (or use a clear casting resin) a bunch of LED's into a through hull fitting and 5200 below the water line. Doesn't seem like a big deal at all . . . definitely not worth $2700. LED are dirt cheap . . . so is a through hull fitting and a light switch. For $2700 . . . I'd expect an underwater disco ball.
