I've had very good results,with Sunfire two part urethane from the automotive division of Sherwin Williams.
I painted a few aluminum boats with it,that stayed in the water for a few weeks at a time with no pitting or bubbles. It's expensive,but is a beautiful finish,and is bullet proof.It's used on fleet trucks,and airplanes.

I got really good results from the regular old Tempo spray bombs on my lower units... Sand down, zinc chromate primer, color coat and then clear coat. Don't know if my finger would hold out long enough to spray and entire engine though...
