20' or under boat = Bimini
23' and up = t-top

Like some of the other guys have said, I think the answer lies in how you will be using the boat. T-tops have a much higher "cool factor," can have nice storage/handhold/antenna options, and are better for fishing by a long shot. They cost a lot more, and few offer anywhere near as much shade.

Bimini's can give great gobs of shade, yet fold down in a jiffy. I love running early morning and at night "with the top down." They're cheaper, not anywhere near as cool looking, and can be a real PITA when fishing if up.

IMHO, if it's just you or with a couple buddies hook and line fishing, and you've got the bucks, go for the T-top. If you hook and line fish once in awhile but mostly are diving and/or just having fun with women or kids onboard, the bimini would be a better choice. Enjoy!

Red- I have always agreed with this as a guideline. There is another option. It was put on my 18 by a PO. I have seen it called a K Top. Here is a thread with some pictures of my boat. I was not a fan at first but it has grown on me.
