Good luck to you in the new job. My cousin and his wife moved to Marathon from Mass. about 12 years ago and he always told me you need a really stable, well-paying job to live in the Keys. Sounds like that's what you've got, so you should be fine. He's about 38 now and has 1 child who hasn't entered the school system yet. Sounds like you're not there yet, but he said the schools have him a little concerned, but everything else he's pretty comfortable with. He got himself involved in the community early on, city boards and councilor positions, etc., so that helped his transition to becoming "local". Me, the wife and kids typically visit him once a year and are consistently in awe of the beauty of the place overall (Overseas Hwy is too commercialized along that stretch) and his ability to pull of a comfortable living there.
