Why have clam covers at all? My 25 has straight out holes through the side, seems to work fine. Even when the boat is rolling, not much water comes back in. One thing that might be important. Mine has a small well to catch water coming off the deck or in thru the hull
Do you have any issue with back spray in a banking turn? I'm concerned somewhat as I want the hole to be elongated with the bottom level with the deck so fish guts can run out easily. After seeing how well they work on a commercial boat there is no way I'm going thru the transom again.
