I intend to build a cradle out of 2" x 12" x 16' lumber and 4x4's and carriage bolts. I flirted with the idea of a steel frame and castors so I can move it around because my '89 20 CC will take up a lot of the available work space. On the other hand, it the boat being in the shop is a pain, I might get it done faster. Last project the customer had show dollies, which worked great!

I keep the boat in the garage all the time while on the trailer. I am going to lift the bow with a hoist once the stern is on stands. I have just been unsure where to place the stands.

When I take a boat off the trailer I put the stands on the outside corners of the transom. I use regular boat stands as I have a lot of them. It looks like the pads on the top on your jack stands need to be bigger and definitely tie them together. It would really suck if the boat wound up sitting on the garage floor! Just take it slow and easy and have somebody watching the jack stands at all times. Good luck.

Most ropes stretch a lot - make sure you use something to tie them together that does not stretch much (cable is good).
