Thanks guys, I believe On/Off is muriatic acid. Been using it for 25 years on non bottom painted gel coat. Was concerned the AwlGrip would not stand up to it.

My neighbor came by last night with what appeared to be a gallon rectangle shaped plastic jug, put a sprayer on it and went to work. Spray, wait, gently rinse. Better than On/Off. Called Rust/EX and he bought it under $10 at Home Depot. Hull came out really nice.

Use On/Off ONLY while wearing gloves, eye protection, and a respiratory mask of at least R97 rating. The manufacturer, Siloo, on the MSDS recommends using a chemical cartridge respirator while using On/Off in an environment where it may become aerosolized, such as in a breeze or windy conditions.

Believe them! I thought I was a goner the first time I used it...outside...in a slight breeze.

Rust/EX is sodium mercaptoacetate, aka sodium thioglycolate. It is an organic reducing agent designed for originally for reducing waviness or curliness pf hair. Unfortunately, when used in more than .5% solution, it's also a fantastic depilatory.
Its used now for the purpose of removing tannin and iron oxide stains, particularly from porous rock and concrete. It doesn't do much for anything else, though.
