Has anyone seen or had a 23’ center console inboard with a Volvo D6 engine? Wondering about fit in the console, shaft size, etc...
Thanks! |

There is a 23' inboard in Perkins Cove, Maine with a D3 or D4 diesel. Rides like a dream.
There is a 27' on the Cape with a D6 connected via a jackshaft to an outdrive. The D6 is a big motor and not sure a 23 could handle the weight. Maybe? |

Thanks for the reply, I’m thinking the same. I currently have a 454 with a 1.25” shaft 17 x 17 prop. Currently restoring the boat, thin look no about next power. A D6 came to me, not sure? I love the torque of the 7.4L. Diesel would be nice!

I to have a 75 with a inboard 454 that I’m restoring the same as you. It seam like you only get a few more knot cruise with the diesel. There was a rebuild on here with a Yanmar 6 built by heynow that cruises between 27 to 30 knots that’s only hear say. But heynow did sell the boat to some one and it back up for sale on facebook under classicseacraft for 45k. I also hear the Yanmar 4 cruise is about 27 knots and that motor and gear is about 40k. Also you will need to up grade your shaft to 1 3/8” or 1 1/2” That doesn’t include shaft prop and so. I also talked to bob who owns the spirt and he has a crusader captains choice 6.0 and he cruises about 24-25 knot. And two other people have the captains choice 5.7 and they say there cruise is about 22 to 23 knots.

I Have a 23 inboard with the 240 Hp Yanmar 4lha-ste with a 1-1.25 zf transmission. That engine if you can find one is about the same size as a small block chevy and a little heavier but not dramatically. My boat will cruise at 23-25 knots and run 29 maybe 30 on the pins. run the same prop as i did with Gas crusader 16x16.
I had seen one with a cummins 6bta but it was really wedged in. the yanmar doesnt require any cutting but i did change i'm i'm up the engine mounts to allow better engine mounts that absorb more of the diesels vibrations at idle. jim |

Cape Cod Marine and Albin 26's run D6's and Cummins 380 and 425's. I believe they are the same width and depth as a 23? Imagine they must have stringers and box set a bit wider?
