ACR set up on 20' Seafari - Questions
After doing a lot of reading I decided to go with a dual battery set up on my 20' Seafari, with a Blue Seas ACR to allow charging of both batteries. Between this thread: Battery Switch and the instructions that came with the ACR itself I came up with this wiring diagram:
I have a 1987 Force 125 outboard. According to an online manual I found it has a maximum alternator output of 7 amps. Does that sound right? Is this going to be sufficient for the set up I have planned? Does 60 amp CB's sound right for this set up? Is there any reason not to do very short runs of wire(3-4") between the CB's and the ACR? I would really appreciate any advice or input anyone can give me. |

That's nice! What size battery cable/length of run?

Re: ACR set up on 20' Seafari - Questions
That is all going in the port stern locker, so the run should be 3-4'. I am using 6ga for all of the cables, with the exception of the positive going to the fuse panel and the wire to the engine, which are going to be 4ga.

Max, you should be fine. I think the Blue Seas stuff is the shizzle. I used the same set up on my Seafari in the starboard locker.
60A CB is plenty wire protection for that motor amp output. I too used 6 and 4 ga. - no problems in 4 yrs. Enjoy your Seafari.
