What is it worth?

Looking for example of what a professionally rebuilt 23 CC would go for. Closed in transom, with bracket, ready for power/rigging.

Thinking of re-building anther boat to give some work to someone who needs it. Just have to make sure we get our $ back out of it.

This would not be a customized boat like mine, but rather a re-coring of deck/cap, re-bond hull/deck, new tank, new fuel lines, bracket, and snazzy paint job. Original console (made to look new). Hull is a mid 70's i/o.

Opinions ? Thanks!

You have to think about it like you are the buyer.

I don't think it's out of the question for someone to shell out $20,000 on a hull with no power that was meticulously restored. You figure if you bought new power with controls and gauges, lets estimate $25,000. Then you can dump another $5-7k into electronics. You've basically got a brand new rig in the $50 - $52k range.

Whatever you do, i would document your work with pictures (alot of them) along the way. I would feel much better seeing the work that was done rather than believing a complete stranger.

VERY tough to make your money back on a restore...............

I could probably get it finished and for sale for under $20k and have enough to pay a man for a couple months of work. Wont make any money on it though.

Not a bad gig, at least you'll sleep well at night.

I can tell you this much, if i was the buyer things that would appeal to me :

NEW (not cleaned) fuel tank
NEW fuel lines
Awlgrip Paint
New non-skid
Fresh Console
Leaning Post
Roadworthy Trailer

Thats just what would appeal to me as a buyer. Probably different for everyone. If i could buy a redone hull for $20k or less and all it needed was power and electronics, i'd figure it a win.

Joel,

I agree with the above. If you are able to save another hull and provide someone a job while doing it, then why not? "Build it and they will come."

$20K, less power and (high-end) electronics is realistic.

For me, with the number of trailers available in So. FL, I wouldn't sweat that too much. IMHO, they are dime a dozen, and most folks would want to choose trailer type AS WELL as power choice.
