5200 and plastic cutting board
Was thinking of using a dollar store cutting board to screw on my 2 bilge pumps and then using 5200 to glue it down to the bottom of the bilge. Not comfortable just screwing them to the boat and not looking to do more glass work with a piece of wood and glass them in.
Will 5200 hold? |

This how a local boat builder told me to do it. Should work...
If you’re afraid 5200 won’t be strong enough... use pl premium adhesive by loctite at homedepot or others. Stuff is Polyurethane based and sticks to everything. |

I don’t think the 5200 will stick well to the starboard. I might have tried that before..I would go another route

If you anneal (heat treat) it supposedly changes the chemical makeup which allows adhesives to stick better. Ive done it glueing down starboard strips to the bottom/sides of my fuel tank. So far working. I too switched over to the Locktite brand available at the big box stores, less $$$ than 5200.

5200 WILL release from any polyethylene or polypropylene plastic. It just won't hold long-term. Use a plastic epoxy after flame treating/annealing, or choose a different type of plastic such as PVC.
