Not intending to hijack thread here so I will keep it short. I used 2"OD/1.5 ID pipe from Max Gain Systems (mgs4u.com/fiberglass-tube-rod.htm) and then wrapped it in 1700 w epoxy to get to 3/8" wall....

I had the same thing (but maybe not as deep?)...
I had the same thing (but maybe not as deep?) around the beds for the motor mounts (I/O) - I used 2 layers of 3/4 Coosa beveled to match deadrise and glassed over to keep the water from accumulating.
