The area under the bow eye is a open area, I keep my small anchor in there, its finished with gel coat with a drain hole to the bilge in the bottom. What a mess someone left you get that stuff out...

Fred, that sounds like you may be getting a little to much water in there, granted its an inboard but five gallons a day is a bit much on a 23 foot boat with a single shaft. I would try to track it...

You need to measure the transom to see if you have a 20 or a 25" transom, I'm not sure of what year they went to the taller one since thats a later boat, The last two digits on your hull ID number...

Scottyyy, I/O's are genrally a high maintainence item compared to inboards, each drive has three rubber bellows that should be replaced every couple of years, u joints and gimble bearings that don't...

Rusty I looked at on of these a couple of years ago down here in the Cape with no trailer it was for sale for $10000 and it wass for sale for over a year If that helps. It had a newer engine in it...
