Default For what it's worth.....

.....the picture on page 6 (if you count the cover) of the 1974 SeaCraft brochure is from the documentary "A Long Way in a Small Boat".

So Bigshrimpin are you saying that Bruce Brown doesn't own the film? Do you have the vhs?

So if Potter is the owner then all we have to do is get permission from him to place it on the site?

That might be easier said than done. Hermco or Jason may still be in touch with Bill Potter after he moved to Alaska. I wouldn't be surprised if he some made some arrangement with Bruce Brown Productions if they put $$$ into restoring the film. Jason has the VHS tape. I made a copy from VHS to DVD and sent it to Alex @ Bruce Brown Media in 2007.

Sounds like we need ask Mr. Potter and Mr. Brown if folks can enjoy the original while they work to restore the color or whatever. Knowing all us crazy CSC members....we'd still buy the re-worked version if it were offered for sale

The Bruce Brown video is 6 minutes, and doesn't show much that looks like A Long Way... So, how long is the film?

Default A Long Way in a Small Boat

Forty years have passed since I saw it, so I've managed to forget some of the detail such as the length, but it's a good show. The departure was delayed by weather. Finally the decision was made to go despite the weather. Next came a successful but somewhat unconventional launch. Once they get underway, there's lots of footage of the boats performing through many miles of very rough water.

I've seen the film also...typical for BB at the time. Fun to watch, sometimes a little hokey but overall a good show.

If I remember correctly . . . it's somewhere between 25 - 30 minutes.
