Re: Wanted: Tsunami / Sceptre foldable ladder

Alan,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I have been very busy latley. The rod ends I have are SAE size. It looks like they only list metric now.

Re: Wanted: Tsunami / Sceptre foldable ladder

Alan,

I had suggested the rod end. We went through this about 2 years ago. At that time, I picked up 16 stainless steel rod ends, had a cnc router available to me, and I needed dimensions. The...

Re: Finally Started on 23 Inboard

Ralph,

I had some scrap pre-preg (epoxy already applied) woven carbon graphite (black) around, and I was just experimenting with it. The stuff I used requires an oven at 240 degrees and under...

Re: Finally Started on 23 Inboard

Ralph,

Your boat looks great! Nice job.

For the dash, you could get a unique appearance with a carbon or silver carbon type of woven fabric.

something like this:
Fabric...

Re: 23 Transom Replacement

I would guess about 5 gallons of polyester resin would be enough. It depends on how many paper weights you end up with.

Use a paint tray and roller to spread out the resin.

John, sounds like...

Re: Cracked Stringers

The first picture of your second post looks like the remains of something that was tabbed to the stringer and not the stringer itself. Its hard to tell, but looks to be the tabbing in of an old fuel...

Re: How much GelCoat??

Don,

Thanks for the info. Too bad I just bought the Duratec. I was aware of the patch booster from Ferro. I’m using Ferro brand gel coat, but the working time as indicated on their website says 5...

Re: How much GelCoat??

Don,

I recall a post of yours a number of years ago regarding this. If I recall, you were adding about 15% patch booster? What type of gun do you use, and how much working time do you have with...

Re: How much GelCoat??

That estimate would be without thinner. I get my stuff from Mertons. I bought the Duratec from Composites One in Bristol,RI. I plan to use the 50/50 mix that Duratec recommends. I would like to hear...

Re: How much GelCoat??

Andrew,

What size boat and which style?

For a 20, I would guess 2-3 gallons for the hull (from the chine up and the whole transom). My 23 deck cap will take about 1.5 to 2 gallons. Yes, you...

Re: Inboard Diesel Jackshafted Vs. Twins on a Seamark

kerneltugboat,

I agree the D3 looks like a nice small package, but do you think it would really move the boat that well? Largest motor is 190hp.

I saw this engine package a few months ago, but...

Re: Transom angle on Tsunami / Scepter i/o ?

John,

I did this over a year ago and came up with 13.5

You can do this with a square and straight edge. See this example: transom angle (http://www.rocketflap.com/transom_calc.php)

Re: Stringer weep hole leaking water - 23' Tsunami

Alan,

While on my 73 Tsunami yestarday, I noticed that the port stringer is open on the forward end. My foam is dry, and the foam was out beyond the end of the stringer. You can see it through the...

Re: Bolt Removal

I have been using Muriatic Acid cut down with water or straight. It works great with rusted parts, and that white crusted stuff.

Use with caution!! It will eat metal. Keep your face away from the...

Re: I.O engine mount help

John,

That is a good question. I agree with the other post about access below. More importantly, on my set up, it had to be lower at the transom because the Y pipes, or part of the transom housing...

Re: suggestions needed

Will,

I would suggest you remove the liner again and grind/clean the underside a bit. Also grind the area where the liner makes contact with the transom. When you install the liner back in, fillet...

Re: Project Tsunami started

Yes, you can take the cap off. The forward section is very heavy. I would suggest you brace it before lifting.

I only lifted mine, never did pull it clear of the boat to turn it over. Here are...

Hi John,

I remember Joe telling me about that boat a year ago. My boat has been on the back burner for sometime now.

Re: 23 Tsunami purchase

That old yeller is my 73 Tsunami. It had and will still have a ford engine when I'm done. If you have any questions I'll be happy to respond.

Anyone need a deck...
