I drill an small access hole with a hatch (about 4") ... figured that would be the best way to get to the nuts and washers.

what I did on the redo of my 1978 MA was to mold some fiberglass skins with a gelcoat finish, using the outside of the boat to get the right angles, then I secured them in place using mat and resin....
