Re: New Boats
More bad news for Florida...
Quote a local Carolina Newspaper
There is good news for a troubled boat maker. Fountain Powerboats says it will expand and create 411 jobs.
The announcement was...

Re: New Boats
Most of the boat builders in FL are shutdown or on life support. Many of them, like SeaCraft/Mako moved to the Carolinas, and with the economy in the tank down here, there are not many boats being...

The sole is mounted at the factury height.
Unless you get 2 guys standing in the corner at rest, the scuppers stay dry. I also have the rabud covers on them, so water doesn't come in. Cockpit...

Re: 23 Rebuild
I hindsight, twin 60 gal would be great, but it is what it is now. When I get a 40 gal livewell in the transom full of water, 100 pounds of ice in the fish box in the floor, the 250 suzuki hanging 3...

Re: 23 CC rebuild - shine
I am not sure what your plans are for using this boat, but when I redid mine, I put in a 150 gal tank, and with a single suzuki 4 stroke, I probably only needed 100 gallon. When you try to plane it...

Re: Need some help with fairing, etc.
I had to do a little buildup to 1/4" in 2 places on my transom cap, and within about a year, I had small cracks appear. I would suggest not going much thicker than 1/8" with the fairing compound. ...

Slow steady presure.
Put something in the hole where the handle was, then come up with some type of worm/threaded rod, and slowly put pressure on it, tighten it up morning and evening, give it a...

Re: Who wants boat porn?????
What I did with mine was clean it up good, use wood flour to thicken some epoxy to sticky paste, filled the gaps/etc with that.
Then I put 3 layers of 45/45 12 oz no matt tape with slightly...

Re: Who wants boat porn?????
I would really consider using epoxy instead of glass to repair that stringer and reconnect it. Glass will only give you a mechanical bond, where epoxy will give you both a mechanical and chemical...

Re: Who wants boat porn?????
Looks like most '87 era boats.
For some reason, there were a lot of hull/stringer disconnects in these years. Clean it up good, and use epoxy to stich the stringers back to the hull.
Check the...

Re: $100 copy of a Fomula 233
That thing has massive trim tabs. From 50 feet away the hull looks very much like a seacraft. Fill in the i/o, put a bracket/4stroke on it, and you have a heck of a boat.

Re: priming aluminum
Whether you paint or powder coat, prep is everything. I have a couple of chips in my powder-coated bracket, and i "patched" them with a dab of 5200, and they have not spread. Going on 2 years.

Re: Transom angle for outboard bracket
13 degrees is right. Single or twin, I would go with a 30" setback. It allows you to mount the motor higher, and also puts the prop in cleaner water. The hard part is the bracket mounting height. ...

I am not sure I would put the foam back in. I would drill some drains near the bottoms of the stringers, and then use epoxy to stitch and strenghin it. Someone else might want to chime in, but I...

If you ground the sender wire on the back of the gauge to the negative batttery, it should peg to full. Gauges rarely go, although mine went this year. The most common cause of this is a bad ground...
