Re: MERCURY = YAMAHA
I have talked to a few Mercury dealers now and they all inform me what i believed. The Mercury is a 100% Yamaha. You may want to read up some more.

Re: 2 Stroke to 4 Stroke for 18ft SC
If you go with a johnson or suz. you might as well go with the 140. The 90/115/140 are the same engine. You may want to check out a 115DI or OPTI outboards also.

Re: counter rotating
If you can try and buy the non counter. If something does happen in the gearcase it is much cheaper to fix then the counter is.

Re: I have a little problem?!?
Sounds to me like it could be the extra material left over from when to boat was built. Most of the times the hull does not get cleaned before the top deck gets put down. After the first few years it...

Re: Time to repower .... Suzy DF140?
No matter what outboard you purchase today in the manual it states every 100 hours to change the plugs. This has to be done to maintain the STAR rateing. Im not trying to press the issue to sell...

Re: 250 Merc Optimax
It is a 2 stroke. There is a recall on the early 2004 150 thru 250 due to a problem with the fuel rail on the return side. It was a vendor probelm that is taken care of. There is only a handfull of...

ISNMAN POSTED:: P.S. Plus you have to think that in the next ten years all that they will make is 4 strokes so resale is also a consideration.
This is not true. Todays DI 2 strokes run cleaner...

Re: Cavitation plate
I would call your mercury dealer and see if you can run the gapped plug. Some Johnson and Evinrudes call for the non-gapped plug but going over to the gapped plug they run so much better. Note you...

Re: New SeaCraft 20
Banks that deal in the marine business have no problem holding the paper on a older boat. All you will need is the boat gone over and the money is there.

Years ago it was even with the bottom. Today everything is mounted from even to 1" above the bottom. The higher you get it the faster it will go. Rember to keep the water intakes below water level...

You mat want to check out Lenco Tabs. They are very easy to install and do not use any oil. This means no pump to mount in the boat. Bennett has been out there for a long time and make a great...

There is no problem that I know of with this engine. I do know some Mercury gearcases make some noise with a stainless wheel on them but they say that is normall.

Re: Twin outboards for 23' Sceptre
I would be sure you stick with a V-6 or a inline 4 cylinder. The V-4 seems to be lacking in the low end get up and go. Depending on your budget the 150 carbs, would push the boat just fine or the...

Re: Best Engine for a 20ft CC
I just installed a Evinrude 175 DI on my 76 20cc. I was going to install a 150 DI. With a 4 blade 17" prop it is turning 5600RPM and is running 55 mph. I have found at 45 mph the boat starts to walk...
