Re: New Owner

My 23' I/B used to take on a bit of water when two or three of us would stand aft, so I installed two of the ping pong ball scupper valves and no more water.

23' inboard

I sold my 23' inboard (White Hawk) to a GMC dealer in N.J. and was wondering how it's doing in that cold weather. If you're lurking, give us a shout.

Re: Inboard Propeller Selection

Sorry I haven't been around for quite a while. In answer to your question I run A 1.5:1 Borg. I don't know what my GPH is but it's not much. I return to the marina after a day of trolling and spend...

Re: 23' Inboard For sale

I normally cruise at 2500 to 2800 RPM's which gets me 28 to 30 MPH. Top end is around 34 MPH. Not a real speedster, but I fish (troll) all day on $ 12.00 of gas. You trade blistering speed for...

Re: 23' Inboard For sale

Wow you really got a lot done. Sounds like you are becoming a serious Seacraft restoration specialist. That list reflects a LOT OF WORK! You must have had a very busy summer. Good luck on the rest...

Re: 23' Inboard For sale

Thanks Fellowship, the dog comparison is right on. It was a very difficult decision. I've had this boat for about 14 years and put a lot of money and sweat into it and it has given me some great...

Re: 23' Inboard For sale

I'm moving from the Jupiter area to the Indian/Banana river area, and will live right on the Indian river. Looks like I'm giving up offshore fishing life to pursue inshore fishing in that area. The...

Re: Checking for Moisture

I like the moisture meter idea, sounds very accurate. My low tech approach was to drill a 1/4" hole near bottom of transom, insert a short length of wire and collect the water that weeped out. If you...

Very resourceful. I hope you wound up with a really dry transom.

Re: Question for you inboard folks/or others if you have any idea's

I would not run them dry. If you get five years out of a set of risers you are doing good. The fresh water is probably why. I run raw cooling water through center risers and get maybe three years....

Re: Inboard Propeller Selection

Hi guys, another inboard fan here. I've got a '79 23 footer, 350 chev/Mercruiser conversion-260 hp. I too am running the 16X17 with a slight cup in it and get 34 mph top speed. Out of the hole is...

Re: Thru-hulls

Actually, besides the big four there was also: Gale, Bucaneer, Wizard, Bundy, Seagull, Attwater and a few more whose names escape me at the moment. A lot of experimentation going on at the time.

Re: Center Console Inboard 23' Seacrafts 70 to 80 yrs.

Well Craig it looks like we may have enough to qualify for a special interest group, "Inboards." Also maybe you can help with Toms document search since your boat is closer in vintage to his.

Re: spray rails for a 23

Most of the applied spray rails I have seen were custom "one off" installations, and even these were primarily done to older hulls..(Seacraft, Cuda Craft) Personaly I don't believe the 23 needs them....

Re: Wet Transom Too

Rich, I'm sorry to have to disagree with your N.J. advisor but I think he's wrong on two points. I believe the transom rebuild is better approached from the inside. It is a little harder to access...

Re: Center Console Inboard 23' Seacrafts 70 to 80 yrs.

Tom, I've owned a 79'-23' inboard for 12 years now and it's the finest boat I've ever owned. I've modified mine quite a bit, it was featured in Florida Sportsman magazine February 97' in a dreamboat...

Re: Thru hull scuppers ... How did ya fix em

John B, thru hull penetrations can be done easily if you use a hole saw with an extra long pilot drill. Drill your pilot hole completely through transom at the thru hull location. With hole saw...
